Freelancers and small businesses can easily produce professional-looking invoices and statements with cloud invoicing software. To save time and reduce stress, the software automatically chases late payments. Additionally, expenses can be recorded with the system, so you get a clear overall picture of your business sales and expenses.
We utilise Zoho Invoice because the software is simple to use and integrates with the CRM. However, we have used and implemented both Kashflow and QuickFile for clients. Below is a quick overview of the key features of the three cloud invoicing solutions, which will hopefully help you decide which might be most suitable for your business.
We embraced Zoho Invoice because we use other Zoho apps. Previously, Microsoft Excel was used to produce invoices and manage expenses before switching to Zoho Invoice when we realised we could manage all facets of our business using their software apps.
Zoho Invoice lets you customise your sales quotes and invoices with your company logo; automatically chases late client payments; makes recording expenses a doddle; and displays an easy-to-understand dashboard. Fewer than 5 clients? Zoho Invoice is free.
Kashflow provides a user-friendly interface, produces customisable invoices and automatically chases late payments. Additionally, the software allows for bank reconciliation and automatic filing of quarterly VAT reports directly to HMRC (because no-one enjoys filing VAT returns!) For businesses that run projects (e.g. the construction industry), Kashflow lets expenses be apportioned against projects, providing detailed P&L information for each; an essential insight into what is and isn’t profitable. Access can also be given to your accountant. Prices start at £9/mth.
Another easy-to-use piece of software, QuickFile is designed for the non-accountant and is great for producing invoices, keeping track of expenses, balancing your business bank account and automatically chasing late payments. Not only is the software simple, it is free to use if you produce less than a 1,000 invoices a year. Otherwise, it’s £45 +VAT/year.
